Electrical Apprentice

:Non-Exempt, Regular

Essential Job Functions:

  • Tests malfunctioning equipment and identifies defects
  • Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code
  • Assists Journeyman with less complex installation tasks
  • Measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Completes electrical wiring tasks, alignment adjustments and calibration of equipment by following manuals, schematics, drawings, and equipment specifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current and valid drivers' license, with clean driving record
  • Some knowledge and experience with electrical work
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

Required Education, Training & Certificates:

  • OSHA 10 Certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • H2S Certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Two year diploma or degree in electrical technology, preferred

(1 year of directly related work experience may qualify to substitute 1 year of education to meet the education requirement)

Knowledge,Skills &AbilitiesRequired:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, operational and mechanical systems including; installation, test, maintenance and repair.
  • Basic knowledge and experience use of power tools, electrical equipment and construction equipment.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations or emergencies such as high voltage systems, electrical fires, loose hot wires, broken power lines and etc.
  • Ability to work safely and recognize potential hazards
  • Ability to prioritize work or assignments in order to complete projects on time
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbal and written
  • Ability to handle stress and possess positive trait even in difficult or challenging situations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to receive and follow direction

The incumbent is required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Visual Acuity: must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require use of ear plugs on occasion. Work condition is outside environment (job site/field site) that may have inclement weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment. The incumbent must be able to travel to, and within, the State of Texas.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
